The instinct to LARP or play war strategy games, so widespread in Northwest European dudes, doesn't really seem to be present in more reality oriented Jews, which is probably related to their general disdain for fantasy literature.

The level at which Israeli nationalism plays up *the Romans* as a national foe (really, if you do a Taglit trip or read nationalist poetry, or visit ruins in Israel, you will see more demonization of Romans than Arabs) suggests this isn't the case.

Also this is the group that still mourn Tisha B'Av (a defeat from 587 BC) & came up with Canaanism as an art movement. It's crazy how overrepresented Anglos (especially Mormons) are among great fantasists, & that Jews aren't but Jews have superfluous interest in ancient history.
