When people become depressed they undergo mental declines in areas like psychomotor speed and episodic memory for real events that sometimes outlast the depression by months. The decline in memory leads to a kind of self-centered rumination reminiscent of autism.

I think a better way to put what you've stated is that autistics tend toward innate immunity (leads to overreactivity) due to biases in mTOR. You're right on many accounts, but I don't buy that "too much nutrition reaches an omega point." Nutritional *quality* has been plummeting. Both depression and autism are a direct result of increased serotonin, the source of which is multiplicitous. http://haidut.me/?p=1539
