In the early 90's there was a huge Simpsons usenet group that dissected every episode and what's hilarious is at the time how many of the show's biggest fans hated its supposedly best episodes. Reading it, you notice how much more independent people were, even when discussing TV.

A few years ago I realized that I was relying on the opinions of others instead of forming my own. It was for the smallest things, movies, shows, internet drama, all that. So I stopped listening to them and focused on what I liked instead.

Having other peoples opinions is easy, but it’s also draining having to keep up with the crowd. I am cautiously optimistic that the sheer volume of crap that’s put out these days will discourage some people from even trying.
