Hollywood casting directors have ethnic biases e.g. for leading man roles they love Swedes. While not all that common in the US, Matt Damon, Mark Wahlburg, Val Kilmer, Adam West, James Franco, Mark Hamill, Hayden Christiansen, are all at least 1/4th Swedish.

The Swedish specialty is producing men with muscular faces who nonetheless come across as boyish, sincere, and unthreatening. BAP once said that Scandinavian men seemed handsomer than women to him and I think this is reflected in casting: not as many big actresses.

There about as many US Norwegians/Swedes but Swedes are greatly preferred as actors, being better looking. In one of my old Norwegian family albums I saw a photo of the handsomest man I had ever seen; he was the only Swede in the book. He looked like Charles Lindbergh's fatherpic.twitter.com/cZ4OWUlR3w
