In other words, according to the modern American consensus all published writers adhere to, Metz's attack on a rising threat would be commendable (other than the doxxing). It's only distasteful if you are sympathetic to Race/IQ connections, as most of his defenders secretly are.
The real point is this: soft "HBD" type people like Charles Murray themselves often play dumb about the implications of their work. There is no way reconcile it with liberalism and if liberals were smart they would be doing even more they currently are to wipe it out.
Is IQ really that important? Apart from extreme cases, successful people seem to be upper-mid level intelligent & are just excellent at focusing on rather boring things.

I disagree. No reason that HBD realism can't imply a certain degree of noblesse oblige on the part of the cognitively privileged. Though yes, in reality, doesn't work like that, since under current paradigm open HBDism filters for disagreeableness and psychopathy.
An individual could be HBD & have noblesse oblige, but how does this work at the mass political scale of a western ‘democracy’, with its implicit cry for equality-striving?

I don't think it is irreconcilable with liberalism at large, but it is irreconcilable with currently existing liberalism. After all, after the American Revolution, liberalism coexisted with slavery and segregation for a while.
A problem is that IQ tries to qualify measures of at least three orthogonally different classes of concepts. Another is that it's expressed in terms of age (which, conceptually, should mean that early senility is high IQ).
