People like being partisans of teams, but it turns out standing up for yourself and your own natural group is hard because other groups fight back. Lefties become partisans of outlanders, but righties basically do the same thing and become champions of dead societies.
The dead societies are always surrogates of their own natural group; being a heroic defender of Rome, Greece, or their own country 200 years ago is a lot easier than standing up for real, visible people with their apparent imperfections.
What I mean to say is that it would be refreshing to see a right winger that was proud of his real community, family, himself.
