Trump's worst state in 2020 was Vermont where he won just 30.8% of the vote. Abraham Lincoln's worst state in 1860 was a ten way tie: in Arkansas, Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Texas he received zero votes.
Now he also wasn't on the ballot, so you might wonder if Democratic legislatures weren't interfering with the will of the people. But in the slave states where he did appear he didn't do much better: Kentucky (0.93%), Virginia (1.13%), Maryland (2.48%).
