I assume it would be, the amount of connection between the two countries in past times is immense, more than just both being celts. I think the big difference is the choral tradition in Wales is much stronger.

Tenors are showy and individualistic, perfectly Irish, but choirs require discipline and the development of deeper voices and more control, which is very welsh. Irish and Wejj km sh are very different languages and Welsh has more rhythm and less ornament to it.
