A stereotype which is apparently well known in Britain that I hadn't been aware of until recently was that the Welsh have unusually beautiful singing and speaking voices: "the deep dark answer from valleys" as Richard Burton put it.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AcSuQf4RZWs&t=5m39s …

So is there evidence that the Welsh are better at running distance than other British? I think so....in 2018 Mo Farrah broke the all time British marathon record which had set by the Welshman Steve Jones in 1984 (which was a world record at the time.)

In 2000 and 2004 the Welshman Jon Brown placed 4th in the Olympic marathon. In 1992 the best British time was had by the Welshman Steve Brace. There are a grand total of three million people in Wales, so I think I can securely say this is no coincidence.

Now on the other hand as great as the Welsh are at running distance, they don't compare in that respect with Norwegians who have by a huge margin the strongest lungs in Europe, an Arctic adaptation. So it isn't purely strength, but rather strength interacting with something else.
