The suits of armor that survived were typically either boys' pieces or 3/4 size artifacts to show off craftsmanship. You can measure skeletons and see that medieval nobility were well within modern tolerance.

Last time I looked at this I found the opposite - surviving pieces of armour indicate knights and professional soldiers were decently sized. Makes sense since any nutrition problems wouldn't affect the wealthy as much.

Sed contra, the average height of medieval men was around 5'7" - shorter than today (5'9.5" for US men) but not by much. Charlemagne was around 6'3" and accounted tall, but not freakishly so.
