I think the triple jump tests both raw muscular power and a kind of flexibility that allows for very long strides, which either doesn't differ between the races or might offer even whites an advantage. Larry Bird was slow, but he took huge strides.
The greatest white pure athlete in NBA history was Bobby Jones, a former long jump champion from North Carolina. J was the first guy to become famous for free throw line dunks but a young Toni Kukoc did the same thing at about 6'10" https://youtube.com/watch?v=rSVS0rC30ds … Whites are poorer leapers overall than blacks, but more so vertical than horizontal leaping.
