How genetically different are the English people from the Irish? My understanding is that the Anglo-Saxon influence was minimal, 1/3 max.
I've quoted that estimate to others too, but I also tell people that genetic distance doesn't necessarily imply distance on a particular trait because selection can work fast. Montenegrins and Romanians are quite similar genetically, but different in male height is ~4 inches
