One of the Cameroonian pygmy skeletons carried Y haplogroup AOO, which is today so rare that it was first discovered only in 2013 in an African American family. Since then all quite a few more AOOs have been found, but only in Cameroon- an amazing example of ancient continuity.

How many African-Americans have been found by DNA scans to have Pygmy ancestry? Or Bushman ancestry? I read an 1896 "Popular Science" article that claimed their were Pygmy villages in the forests of the American South but have never seen any confirmation.
