The kurds lost their homeland in Syria which they fought for with US forces in the battle agaist Isis, losing 11 thousand of their men and women. Tonight they were sold out by Trump who says he saved millions of lives. It will be remembered by the kurds as the greatest betrayal.

Once upon a time we lavished an extraordinary amount of money and equipment on an ally that sacrificed more blood in our cause than anyone else, ever, and yet weirdly after World War II no one felt we had a sacred obligation to assist the Soviet Union from now on.

The Soviets had to fight, because they were being attacked by Hitler. it was as much their cause as ours; they didn’t fight on our behalf. I wouldn’t call them allies or even friends. Afterward, they wanted as much as they could take (and still do.) We owe them nothing.

That's the point. The Kurds didn't go looking for a fight either, it was resist ISIS or die. We also owe them nothing.

1/We would not have gotten ISIS to near-extinction w/o the Kurds. When Trump ordered our troops to step aside to let Turkish forces in to kill them, they were helping US soldiers guard ISIS prisoners that were IN US CUSTODY. And they stayed w/us, even as Turkey went further than

2/they claimed they would, forcing us our Kurd helpers to run for their lives. We are seeing vids of Turkish soldiers shouting ISIS slogans & US soldiers reporting these soldiers are committing atrocities. Exactly what has to occur before you say we owe our allies something?

Atrocities occur everywhere, at least on this tiny scale. We don't have to go back to being Bush-era global police because somewhere in the Congo or Burma some ethnic group 95% of Americans couldn't find on a map is having a hard time.

My impression is that ISIS is a terorist group that sent operatives to kill hundreds of people in Paris and who inspired terrorist attacks all over the world and that is why we were trying to stop them. But apparently that wasn't it, it was because they insulted the PKK
