The kurds lost their homeland in Syria which they fought for with US forces in the battle agaist Isis, losing 11 thousand of their men and women. Tonight they were sold out by Trump who says he saved millions of lives. It will be remembered by the kurds as the greatest betrayal.

Yeah, and Stalin was such a sweetheart......

Stalin fought the Germans for the same the Kurds fought ISIS: it was in both of their self interests to fight nearby aggressors. They weren't doing us a favor, and after our common enemy was defeated in neither case were we required to swear eternal loyalty to them.

The Soviets had to fight, because they were being attacked by Hitler. it was as much their cause as ours; they didn’t fight on our behalf. I wouldn’t call them allies or even friends. Afterward, they wanted as much as they could take (and still do.) We owe them nothing.

I never knew this. I watched a brilliant documentary the other day and it explained how Stalin wanted Hitler to be win and actually supported him until the last minute. Churchill wrote to Stalin to warn him and he ignored him. Completely changed my view.

The Soviets didn't have bombs until 49, and yet nobody in May 1945 was arguing that we were obligated to protect Russia against all future threats as they doing now for the Kurds. We don't own them, and giving them hundreds of millions of dollars doesn't make us owe them, either.

As I've said to others, this is the point: the Kurds did not travel from a land far, far away to do battle with ISIS, but rather fought them on their own territory, much as the Soviets fought Germany after Barbarossa.
