The author claims, without any evidence whatsoever, "that that the Spartans gave everything for dignity greater than any one people". Odd then, that the ancient Greek word for a non-Greek speaker was "barbaros" which entered into our language as barbarian: uncivilized, ignorant.
And that the Spartan system of a well fed standing army was only made possible by their ancient enslavement of the Messenians, who were apportioned their universal dignity in an awful strange way.
