That's kind of a crummy map, seems to only tag weirdos that self describe as "Scandinavian" as opposed to the more sensible Norwegian or Swedish. What the map doesn't show is that arch conservative North Dakota is by far the most Scandinavian state (~30% Norwegian).

Btw, if you're interested, people of Danish descent are very rare in the US outside Utah Mormons. In the late 1800's 70 percent of Utahns had foreign born parents and of these, slightly less than half were Scandinavian, mostly Danish.
