Boston is the only place I've been to in America where I've picked up the impression that blacks fear whites, and that white civilians feel they own the streets. In Chicago, for example, random whites tend to defer to random blacks in terms of stepping aside on crowded sidewalks. https://twitter.com/CaveatSpecter/status/1076674073659351045 …

But in Boston, whites tend to radiate a "We own the streets" swagger that is eye-opening. I'm fascinated by how this (typically Irish) street level white supremacism interacts with Boston's huge liberal academic intelligentsia, who benefit from the physical safety they derive.

It's also interesting to speculate whether Boston's white tribalism has allowed Coach Belichick room to experiment with undervalued white football players at stereotypically black positions like receiver. Is it a coincidence the Belichick and his white players thrive in Boston?
