According to Carleton Coon's The Races of Europe Balts (in particular Estonians and Latvians) have the longest wingspans of any European people (look at Porzingis). This is true of northeast Europeans generally (Andrei Kirilenko).

First Balkan import basketball player I can recall was 6'11" Croatian Kresmir Cosic of BYU who would give UCLA's Bill Walton all he could handle in early 1970s NCAA Regionals. Recent improvements in nutrition have made Montenegrins frighteningly large: there are districts where average male height is 6'1". Yugoslavia follows opposite of usual European pattern: tallest people are in the south, probably because Slavic expansions shrunk them a bit.
