First, SO important and refreshing to see the strong bipartisan cooperation on this. @SenatorRisch is lead name on the bill and said "something of this magnitude has to be bipartisan. This is going to happen again, there is absolutely no question." Can't say it enough. 2/
Second, why does this bill matter? Highlights:

The bill also sets clear goals to accelerate the global #COVID19 response and sharing of #COVIDVaccines with countries that can't access them. The appalling inequity in global access to 
is driving the deadly third wave of the #pandemic in Africa, Asia and Latin America. 4/
Glad to see Senate bill also calls for the US to immediately contribute $300m to @CEPIvaccines to support its work on #COVIDvaccines #covax and toward the @g7 #g7 goal to reduce the timeline for devp of new #vaccines for #pandemic threats to 100 days. 5/
One area the bill is underwhelming: funding level of $5B is WAY too low, given cost of $20T+ of #covid19 and near certainty of another major #pandemic in next two decades. US must lead the world to invest more in #preparedness now. #G20 calls for $75B/next 5 yrs minimum. 6/
But overall, this bill is a big step forward to bolster USG leadership to #pandemicproof the world. @PandemicAction urges @SenateDems @SenateGOP to increase funding to at least $10B and expedite passage of this landmark legislation. US won't be safe until world is safe. END
