Hey @TeamYouTube @YTCreators when emphasising watch time, is the percentage of the video watched compared to it's total length factored in, or is it 100% only the amount of minutes? If anyone knows the answer, I'm curious

Are you saying like streams wise and videos? The best comparison would be when someone watches 2 hours of your stream the watch time is huge because they watched 2 hours of it. Its all time. So if you watched 90% of a 2 minute video but 85% on a 7 min, 7 min weighs more.

So longer videos have a distinct advantage? Watching 50% of a shorter video, and watching 50% of a longer video are not the same thing? That's what I figured, but wasn't 100% sure

Yeah they aren't the same thing. That is why people who put more minutes into a video with good watch time typically do very well.

Tbh that is why your streams + videos do insanely well in the first place. It factors in a lot + it is games people still get recommended/searched on. So a mix of them both puts you in a good spot.
