Tonight my wife said as a kid she had a Barbie with a wheelchair but it was discontinued because the chair didnโ€™t fit in the Barbie house door. Her: โ€œSo instead of making the doorways wider they just got rid of the doll!!โ€ Me: โ€œWelcome to being a disabled person!โ€

I just want a gender-neutral term for a student to use to address their intimate-but platonic mentor-confidant that isn't "teacher", is that so much to ask?

All this brouhaha over an article in a uni newspaper about shoplifting - I guess nobody remembers when La Trobe's Rabelais did the same thing?

So the government is going to "let" pensioners work more hours to address cost of living pressures? How fucking kind of them. Some pensioners *can't* work. Guess they can stay in their below poverty line hell.

Help please, hivemind! I'm looking for a restaurant in northern Melbourne or CBD that does a decent steak (but not something that'll cost $60+!) and is accessible. Any recommendations?
Okay brain, I get it. You don't like me, and I don't like you. I put up with it most of the time - but I draw the line at you giving me an Ultravox/REO Speedwagon mashup earworm right before bed.

Does anybody else find it disturbing that grown-up Ginny Weasley-Potter is basically a clone of Lily Potter? Like, Harry married his Mum? Just me?
So different. GOT starts in media res, quickly establishes social and gender divides, ramps tension and introduces a note of 'outside' horror, all through SHOWING. By contrast, HOTD has tediously long voice-overs, and everything is explained in cliched dialogue.
