I'd have to disagree. It's not a zero sum game. When Microsoft open sources their own code, it doesn't disappear some other code. There is more corporate open source, but Microsoft has also been contributing to a ton of Linux Foundation projects/etc. + giving them money.

Perhaps not exactly zero sum game but it's pretty close, at least in terms of mind share and traction. It's prohibitively expensive for individual (teams) F/LOSS developers to compete with megacorps in profitable/popular niches.
