I'm incredibly interested in the information theory aspects of LLMs turning bullet points into long form and long form into bullet points (quasi extracting the essence of information in the longer text). Could anyone point me at papers in this space?

I was misunderstood and now I have an almond milk latte. Holy shit it's amazing. They need to rebrand it as "liquid cake". I suppose the health crowd would be turned off.

My assessment of the search engine situation between Google & Bing: Bing reports a substantial increase in their relevancy metric. I believe them and this in itself is a big deal for such an early product. Even a bolted on product will allow them to iterate to something truly… Show more

If you own a combustion engine vehicle you basically have 2 options from a monetary point of view: - decide to drive it until it is worth nothing - sell it today while anyone still wants it The tipping point is near.

Very positive news! “More quickly than seemed possible a few months ago, sticker prices for electric vehicles are falling closer to the point where they could soon be on a par with gasoline cars.” nytimes.com/2023/02/10/bus

I'm particularly excited about the bfcache audit added in Lighthouse 10. There was already a great testing tool in Chrome Dev Tools (web.dev/bfcache/#test-), but having it here as well opens up lots more opportunities for making this important optimisation more widely known.

JDBC was a good idea. In fact, when it was released in 1997 it was already obvious that it would be a good idea. Why doesn't the JS ecosystem have a JDBC? Or am I missing something? It seems folks depend directly on the driver or in cases like Prisma the driver is bundled.

Interesting experiment. This takes a ServiceWorker out of the critical path entirely and basically makes it a best effort thing where it can lose against the network, and then never sees those requests

This may change how you develop software: Think Vercel preview deployments, but for your database. A fresh copy for every branch you make as you iterate on your software.

🎉 `Headers.getSetCookie` (what a name 😅) was added to the spec to address this! github.com/whatwg/fetch/p

This is so annoying! As awesome that npm.im/set-cookie-par exists, it's a much more popular lib than it should be... Some of the dependents (from npm) are: Remix, SvelteKit, SolidStart, Shopify Hydrogen, Miniflare... And probably many others who implement parsing from scratch.

If you are trying to uplevel your impact as an engineer in your organization, this blog post provides super actionable advice. Or let's put it that way: As a leader I'd be incredibly happy with folks exhibiting the behaviors described here.

Another blog post I've been sitting on for a while. A question I get asked often is how managers actually evaluate engineers. That's a long answer. But we can at least talk abut some expectations that engineers often overlook. marcorogers.com/blog/advice-fo

This is a nuanced and ground breaking change. Efficient string sharing between host VM and WASM is a game changer for many use cases.
