171 league average innings, with the capability of doing way better than that in stretches -- in a league where, allegedly, knowing how to play the game the right way and veteran presence and all of that is valuable -- is, you know, valuable.

It's infuriating to think the Nats could have resigned a well-liked player with area ties for a ham sandwich.
-
As a Nats fan, it was OK with me… he is a great guy but every single one of his starts was EXCRUCIATING.

Think these are MLB deals just disguised as such. Giving the teams more time to make roster cuts. He shouldve been on a team by now for sure but I don't know what his demands were

The minor league deal is likely only because he’ll need time to ramp up his innings and on an MLB deal he’d have no options left. The opt out is timed almost exactly at a full spring training.
-
That doesn't make it better. He could've had a full spring training if anyone had made him a big league offer by February.

Really disappointed the Braves wouldn't do this - he would be a big help to that staff

I don’t see how the Angels couldn’t get that or pay even a little more than that. It’s very dumb.
