Hey there! So those that follow me know I am the Head Coach of @DU_Esport and it's currently crootin' season.
I get asked, as I'm sure my peers do, what I look for in a student athlete. So I thought I would take a moment to give a quick idea of what I am looking for (1/2)
First of all, a good student. That's one of the most important. I also want someone who is a good teammate, hungry, driven, passionate, a student of the game, a good communicator, and non-toxic. If you have those skills, you are either already highly skilled or on your way (2/?)
Those traits lead to champions and is what myself, and I assume many if not all of my fellow Head Coaches/Directors look for in a student. We all want the Master level LoL player, or the top 500 Overwatch player, but we value the soft skills and traits just as highly. (3/?)
If this is shared or seen by a single coach or student and others see it, we are already on the way to building the next wave of esports athletes that aren't just "kids who play video games" but students who will succeed not only in game but in the classroom and in life. (4/4)
