I'm not saying that open source developers are wrong to behave this way! It relieves the boredom. I think more companies should be aware of this and be more liberal about showering open source developers with free hardware.
Never underestimate the bandwidth of a bored open source developer. Many developers, if given $100 of hardware, will happily provide $10,000 worth of free labour in their efforts to make it work.
