One of the questions I'm asked most frequently is: How do I become a conversation designer? There is no exact step-by-step path, but I wrote an article that provides resources and tips for how to get started.

Interesting article on making memes accessible to people who are blind. Accessibility work often focuses on essential things (like transportation) and leaves out "small" things like this, but they play a key role in social connections.

Here's a great opportunity to either volunteer as a mentor, or sign up as a mentee and get to chat with a veteran in the field. (I just volunteered!)

Lisa talks about games and emotions. You're not just looking for "Is it fun?" Like a film, which generates a lot of different emotional responses, you want people to experience a range. Give it a listen! 3/3

❤️ the advice for testing voice-forward surfaces like a smart display: close your eyes and make sure the voice-only experience is still playable. She also shares the music she listens to when she really wants to focus. 2/

I feel this. Just got an email with "urgent" in the title from someone I don't know saying "could I just fire off 200-250 words real quick on VUI best practices" for an article he was writing, "as soon as possible". (also, for free.) srsly?

Thanks for your support of a wonderful organization, . I was a volunteer instructor for Girls Who Code, and I learned a lot from the girls in my class, and loved to see their enthusiasm for coding flourish.

Thanks for the recap, it was good to hear your perspective on the event! Also, thanks for saying I'm not just a "talking parrot". 😀 (For real... appreciate the sentiment.)

Clever. (For those asking, why not just text? Sometimes it's nice to hear a voice in your ear.) Though I don't know if I wanna put someone else's AirPod in my ear...!

For confirmation, the utterances are read back (e.g. "J1 7 field 3") in sped-up TTS. They have to get through a LOT of plants/cows/etc and there's no need to add extra time. 7/
