🔮 There's no time like the present to start a newsletter ✍🏽 Of Note goes out every Friday with a few of the things that I thought were most interesting and important from around the web this week. Not a lot of words or pictures; just a few quotes and links.

Now that you mention it, he could surely accomplish more for the nation with a shocking move like that and a powerful, unifying speech than he will in a term on the bench. But he would never see it that way. Entitlement is a hell of a drug.

Republicans are supportive of small businesses about as much as they protect the interests of blue-collar workers or practice Christian principles. The entire image of the party is at complete odds with what they actually do, but their voters will forever believe the lie.

THREAD: You may be wondering why only people on the left are worked up about Kavanaugh’s obvious lies. I mean, do people on the right really believe his (changing) story about what “Renate alumnus” meant?

    1. Kavanaugh's clearly on display anger and pain was quite confusing to millions of Americans. Many saw authenticity in his voice and thus in some way believed he is telling the truth. It is time for us to wake up to what aristocracy is. Aristocracy is a moral system.

Why didn’t Kavanaugh just abandon his choir boy persona and say, “When I was young and foolish, I was young and foolish. I don’t remember this evening, but I was a drinker. I want to say I’m so sorry to Dr Ford. And that I plan to make amends.”

His role at Facebook is Vice President of Public Policy. He can’t support Kavanaugh in a “personal capacity.” Facebook’s top lobbyist is lobbying for Kavanaugh’s confirmation.

Self righteous, white, male anger is exactly what you want to see from someone accused of sexual assault (and nominated for a lifetime appointment to the Supreme Court).

Whatever happens on the vote, we are so screwed as a country. This is the widening gyre in action. There is no more center. Weirdly, I think both Dems and GOP are better off in midterms if they *lose* on Kavanaugh. The base rage on either side if they lose will be apocalyptic.

if there’s anything i look for in a supreme court justice, it is someone who immediately cracks in high pressure situations and also turns to conspiracy theories when they don’t get their way

This is a case study in ’s point about who gets to be angry and who doesn’t.

Updated my site with a few of the projects I've worked on for . I've always enjoyed remixing (h/t ) other people's code but it's something completely different to build things from scratch. Thanks and 💯

Just noticed that you can screenshot any html element from the Safari inspector. They're completely isolated and transparencies are preserved in the png. 🤯

On one hand, you have Ted Cruz, a man whose own friends and family don’t seem to like him all that much. On the other, you have a guy who references Clash songs and actually seems to care about people. I can see how that would be a tough choice.

There's a deep sadness in the fact that tens of thousands of mostly black people are languishing in jail for minor, nonviolent marijuana related offenses, at the same time as stocks like TLRY are exploding.

What’s funny about this is that it’s the complete opposite of reality. His employees - across the country - worship him and I’ve never seen a better off the cuff speaker.
