I'm hoping in 2020 I can push myself through the inertia and play more. Provided I keep it on the "build a habit" side of things instead of "forced chore", it'd definitely help rekindle my passion. Or at least pull me out of this 'games depression' I've clearly been in.
I will tell you that I went through the same thing this year. In 2018 I played more than 90 games and this year I played less than 15. Partly that was burnout from the negative reaction to my last game. I went back to basics and played CoD and Stardew Valley and Factorio.
Yeah, I think I'm going to kick off next year with something I've played before. Considering the FFXII or FFX/X-2 remasters, since they were HUGE for me in high school.

Giving myself permission to play games without an aim or for "research" has been a big part of it. Just cutting it down to things I know I am going to want to enjoy has been really helpful. Control, Resident Evil 2 remake, that sort of thing.
