During the Super Bowl, offered 3 months of free service to new customers. The promotion didn't involve gimmicks. Mint does a great job of offering a budget-friendly service without annoying catches that nickel-and-dime customers.

RootMetrics' last report included details about network performance in congested city centers. I'm curious what sorts of results we would see if RootMetrics reran the tests on devices using low-priority services.

Saying that a single evaluator's analysis "proves" which network is the most reliable or fastest is questionable. It's especially odd in the case of RootMetrics' latest report. Depending on which speed metric you look at, you could argue that either AT&T or Verizon is fastest.

During the Superbowl, Mint Mobile will offer new customers 3 months of service on its 3GB plan for free. It's a very short-term promotion, but it looks like an awesome deal--doesn't appear to involve any serious catches or gotchas.

AT&T is claiming to offer the best network based on America's largest test. IMO, it's a pretty weak claim:

Virgin Mobile shutdown details are at: It looks like it's just a re-branding for most users. But if you are on a grandfathered plan I'd watch out for possible negative changes.

Global Wireless Solutions' testing suggests that AT&T's network has the best performance. However, GWS isn't very transparent about its methodology:

CoverageCritic recently released its Plan Finder tool. It works differently than other tools on the market, and it will hopefully give consumers more helpful starting points when looking for plans and carriers:

"...AT&T's approach to low-band 5G will likely bring no performance advantage, and in some cases it may be slower than 5G E. So why the heck is AT&T doing this now? Marketing."

AT&T and Verizon are embracing obfuscation because they may not want to acknowledge that the 5G phones they're selling this year won't be able to access the broader 5G networks they're both planning to deploy in lowband spectrum in the coming years. ?
