After 7 hours of voting & 70 hours of work sessions, the FY21 Capital & Operating Budgets were passed by the @HoCoCouncil yesterday evening.
I'm disappointed that funding for projects that impact seniors, people w/ mobility issues, & pedestrian safety were cut over & over again.
Despite these significant & harmful cuts to the budget, I ultimately voted to support the final budget legislation. I'm encouraged that the Hammond High Reno/Addition was maintained in the budget, and I look forward to breaking ground on this much-needed project later this year.
I deeply appreciate the countless residents who have reached out to us throughout the budget process, as well as the 1,000+ residents that spent their weekend contacting the Council in opposition to these short-sighted cuts. My full budget remarks here: http://bit.ly/3dd9FOf
