    Grateful for US&R Task Force 7, and the 2nd Alarm Project, and wanted to thank them for their selfless service in Surfside. We also discussed wellness resources in the wake of the tragedy, and how we can best help first responders. We will always support these heroes!

    Tip: Make sure first responders can see your house number from the road. Have it displayed on your house in a visible spot and on both sides of your mailbox.

    When reviewing your insurance policy for hurricane season, check your coverage for fires as well. In 2019, a home fire was reported every 93 seconds nationwide, according to the NFPA. Ensuring in advance that you have adequate protection makes a difference during a disaster.

    On Wednesday, June 23, TFD responded to a fire at a residence within the 1200 block of Alabama Street. The fire originated in the kitchen and, upon initial investigation, is believed to be from unattended cooking. Find more information and safety tips at .

    When there's heavy rain, keep this info in mind: - Flash floods can come rapidly and unexpectedly. - Even if water appears shallow enough to cross, don't try it. Water hides dips in the road. - Just 6 inches of water can cause a car to stall.
