Finding it hard to distinguish between a) concerns/qualms/complaints/desires that are legit and worth discussing with the people involved b) c/q/c/d's that are not rooted in reality and are instead a product of my mental illness, childhood vices etc.

Don't separate the two categories. Understand that one category is a subset of the other category. One category is a symptom of the other category.

The more you learn about beliefs that are not rooted in reality, the more you learn the parts of reality that mislead people into having these beliefs.

> somehow One tool is to imagine that you are completely wrong about your cqcd. Imagine that it's completely your responsibility. Imagine also that it has nothing to do with you or them. This can give you a wider range of options to ponder, even if you were right to begin with.
