It's amazing that schools can be on that list without qualification and be more or less uncontroversial.

Totally. I tried to do this systems mapping of things I find distasteful wrt my experiences with school. It got super complicated and the sources that lead to the most problems downstream weren't well defined, or were difficult to target.

Housing. Whether you're renting or paying off a mortgage, it's the single largest expense for most people (30-70% of income). Capitalism takes a use value and makes it accessible only through the exchange value. Then banks/gov push it further into a speculative market. Fucked up.

Oooh good one. So many complications around this problem. Free housing at a basic level using houses that already exist seems cool, but location, land, variations and preferences throw so many spanners into it. I wonder if we'll ever be able to organise "free" shelter provision

I'm not sure I'd want standardized healthcare, though I understand where you're coming from. But, like other human endeavors, I want there to be space for creativity, innovation and diversity -- in healthcare too.

I'm sorry I forgot to mention, but I really liked this list. The only reason I commented "negatively" on standardized healthcare is precisely because it's the only one that stick out to me in a list that I otherwise fully endorse.

It's all symptoms of a mindset that idealizes competitive games (money, grades, votes, likes, etc.). Compare this to when you focus on exploring and creating awesome stuff with the other individuals around you, freely.

Yup :) trying to break the meta problem down though so there's less of a feeling of overwhelmedness
