convinced that trauma work & self-understanding+improvement should be a solid third of the high school curriculum

From a parents perspective, it should probably happen at the middle school age.

I wonder. Though I think most of the effects won't manifest until later. Like healthy practices such as mindfulness and 'what am I thinking/feeling right now' is useful from a young age, but deep trauma analysis might be better left till highschool. Not like I'm an expert tho lol

Deep trauma analysis best left for later I agree. But what other practices are there that could be introduced from a young age to help young people process this stuff? Especially from non-verbal stage.

Much of coping with trauma is related to understanding conflict. I think kids are ripe for learning the best lessons about conflict at the middle-school age, just before they get too biased and misled. By the time they get to high school, they are too suspicious to pay attention.

When they get suspicious, they often get the wrong message from anything adults say. Coping strategies sound too much like "take it, and like it." Explanations as to why sound too much like BS excuses. Middle schoolers are much smarter than given credit, and a bit more open.
