I hear you. Deciding the academic life isn't for me was at once shocking and liberating: but isn't this what I'm *supposed* to be doing? Once I freed myself, I started seeing it everywhere: people live their lives on autopilot.

Public university will open more doors but still is all on the slave farm, might just have more slaves to lead at time is all. Find your own passion and follow it, if truly your passion no university needed to complete success.

Imo school is garbage and many would be well served by avoiding it. It teaches the forms of knowledge but actively destroys understanding. Unfortunately dropping out disadvantages you vs the credentialed masses and I don’t have a generalizable answer for what other options exist
