I need a word other than sorry. I find myself saying it all too often, and then backpedal when I realise I dont actually mean sorry (the true meaning of the word has a lottt of weight behind it), rather I'm just expressing that I was preoccupied, am switching attention etc.

I used to say sorry all the time, now almost completely replaced it with 'thank you'. Saving my 'sorries' now for situations where really screwed something up. It's a gamechanger.https://madeincosmos.net/sorry-thank-you/ …

There might be something to be had in the the Spanish ‘lo siento’ (colloquially: “I’m sorry” literally: “I feel it”)

I think I’d usually use “pardon me” or “excuse me” in these situations

yep these are closer to what i'm looking for, though too formal for my liking. would feel weird to say this to my boyfriend/pals/family etc
