But: There is a benifit to guidance There is no 8 year old that knows themselves and their optimum context in society better than their perants The issue is where guidance becomes a prison. This it to say: where an attitude of "you'll do well here" becomes "YOU WILL!"

It's true. And I wouldn't expect them to. Guidance, mentorship, teaching. These are great as long as some flexibility is maintained. Eg. Teach then skills that apply to a wide range of life plans, such as philosophy, complexity, ideas about systems, leadership and doing good
