Here's a weird example I intellectually/philosophically & most of the time emotionally know that I like life (living things). I appreciate immensely the beauty and complexity & crazy emergence of it all But I cannot get this to extend to insects & most 'ugly' thingshttps://twitter.com/cosimia_/status/1138198042119532544 …

Interesting to wonder how much this sort of aesthetic influences our take on 'nature', which I think people may reference without reallllllyyyy meaning the whole damn thing! I just recently tweeted this b/c of the same train of thought!https://twitter.com/distillationsbl/status/1136736778839347205 …

Brian Luchsinger @distillationsblQ1: If you were an animal would you rather be one that's like a) an elephant which forms long term bonds with family members and all that jazz or b) a spider or something like that that will eat family members, I would assume friends as well? Totally right. It also means my morality code gets messed up. I don't eat animals & will happily argue for their wellbeing, but I kill spiders ruthlessly bc I'm afraid of them

Taking life — directly/indirectly — we contribute every moment. To juxtapose your thoughts about appreciation & preservation of life, fear, and morality: I eat meat, if I don't, I wither. I never kill critters if I can prevent it — I capture & release outside. Spiders included.

I stand on lower moral ground — considering the complexity and implications of consciousness suffering. It's a dark and winding puzzle. Nutrition and physical need — can that outweigh the distant & indirect ...industrialized... suffering of animals? Painful to consider.

i guess a lot of my moral compass (at least the ideal & theoretical one) is based off the probability of negative/positive consequences2 replies 0 retweets 1 like -

I think I stand firmly in the camp of “I have to eat meat now”, but where’s the nutritional, affordable Clean Meat alternative? I’m open to supplemental proteins, tried some, but none worked. Idea: you might benefit from capturing spiders. Moral alignment and overcoming fear?

is more of a phobia than a fear. ill deffo have to work up to that but atm i cant even fathom it xD i guess i just get my protein from eggs, green veg and fake meat. im a student, so definitely not well off financially. i think if i ate meat my groceries would be more expensive
