We will come close to figuring out if reality is a simulation. Once we can have working virtual reality that is indistinguishable from 'real life' then things are going to get really strange really quickly.

Perhaps tangentially related I would bet that the widespread use of psychedelics, (psilocybin specifically) and their concurrent legalization will be one of the greatest boons to humanity in its entire history.
