is ideology inescapable? should our goal be to recognise and communicate the existence of our ideological thoughts, or rid ourselves of them?
good way of putting it. i can say, for example, democracy is good. good according to what? maybe good according to freedom. well, is freedom good? if we assume yes, thats an ideological assumption. we cannot prove it. though maybe we can do so pragmatically.

funny thing, i was introduced to the concept of ideology in highschool when i was getting into marxism & other leftist philosophy. and it was learning about that that made me realise i too was being an ideologue haha. still took a lot of ideas w/ me though

Well you can keep questioning things forever, to put reality into a model (as in represented by words or even concepts) is necessarily to simplify it. When conversing, I think we should just aim to start from a common assumption.

agreed. the thing about ideology in a marxist sense though is that people are unaware of the assumption, as it is marketed as truth and is their base state of thinking & acting
