Law and law enforcement can be better achieved by businesses in a free market than via government institutions (eventually). They are already produced privately in certain cases like arbitration agencies and event security.

I think a lot libertarians have nuanced beliefs. I'm a libertarian*, but in the sense of freedom being maximised. We deny certain freedoms to individuals to maximise the freedom of individuals in society.

I completely support taxation, for instance, because I don't think people can rightfully claim to ownership of all that they earn

I'm strictly a hedonic utilitarian, & think liberty is nothing intrinsically special. That being said, it's one of the best heuristics for the good imo, & government intervention in the economy usually has unintended negative consequences including creating much greater

inefficiency. I mean people can fulfill each other's preferences all day long, but as soon as you throw money into the equation as a precise placeholder for value, the gov't has to take a slice. That's insane. The amount of regulatory approval people need to start many businesses
