Is there a thing out there that'll let me input some preferences and it'll spit out an interesting paper in my inbox every day?

I really like the YouTube model, which makes it easier to keep watching stuff by constantly adding to a “watch later” playlist, as well as providing subscriptions and sidebar recommendations for each video in addition to search. It’s a nice collection of tools.

I spend too much time on YouTube already
