Stages of wisdom: 1. The unconscious Learn and display values exhibited by family members, media, wider society. Blind absorption. 2. Repulsion Occurs when one begins to learn of the shortcomings of various social practices. The world is horrid and unkind. Deep anger.

3. Rejection In realising the shortcomings of mankind and our organisation on earth, one acts in rebellion by rejecting customs, morals, values, religions, economic systems. I consider this to be the stage of the Nihlist.

4. Integration This stage requires some wherewithal, willpower, and motivation. Stage 3 is an unkind place. It’s chaotic and takes it’s toll on the mind. Moving forward from there is a rational move requiring curiosity, openness, empathy, and critical thinking.

Stage 4 is the process of recognising the usefulness of different social customs and systems. We rebuild the self and our values from the bottom up, using our knowledge of shortcomings from stage 2, and resolving to maximise good and incorporate multiple ideas and frameworks.

A lot of this echos back to something Nat wrote about a while ago, he stopped at 4 too (then decimated to 3 in an article). ...And I just realized how old this thread is too, not sure what surfaced it for me, did you ever find a label/description for 5?https://twitter.com/nateliason/status/943849816160980992 …

Awesome thread. Thanks for the link. Much more concise than mine lol I guess 5 might be creativity? Instead of integrating existing ideas, it might focus on the creation of new ones, or maybe using the integration of ideas to embark on some journey for systematic change
