I love DNA, but he was definitely missing something. Nearly all conflict is caused by misunderstanding. We might THINK we understand, but if we don't actually internalize the loves, losses, dreams, and needs of others, then our belief that we have turns ignorance into hate/fear.
It's all about our aim! Everything we want to give or receive is valuable, but like a puzzle, we have to find the right partners to match our needs effectively, rather than trying to force connections with the "wrong" who, what, where, when, and how.pic.twitter.com/VCKMJjT9PF
The alternative is isolation, which also doesn't ensure harmony. Isolation is peaceful until contact is made. Like most things, it's not about 1 thing. It's about the right combination of things. Connectivity + empathy = harmony.
Empathy is certainly a key ingredient. But I imagine there's a bunch of others too that go into making the cake of harmony Harmony is a rarely used word in western cultures. We could probably learn some things from eastern cultures in this regard
Since I’ve started to value the growth that comes through discomfort, harmony purely for the sake of ease, comfort, and safety is losing its appeal. Connection created by radical authenticity and honesty, while frightening to cultivate, makes me feel more alive.
Interesting take! I'm gonna let this one marinate
I agree, what does?
So true! Every time we make a massive communication breakthrough: pundits predict the 'unity and understanding' produced by its wide spread implementation will produce WORLD PEACE BUT instead we get more arguments and better articulated & substantiated reasons for RESENTMENT!
