I am not sure this is optimal for all countries, but a box of worms has already been opened in the US and I don't think we can close it. On a non-intellectual level, I really hate the idea of getting gunned down because I had no means to counter an active-shooter.
crazy that we dont have to worry about active shooters in aus :P from our perspective the US is scary xD

It's seriously the weirdest thing. We avg. 1 active shooter a day now. I mean I know the avg. person is still about 3x more at risk dying in an auto-accident, but it's high enough that I want to carry.

In the US, there seems to be more people who are scared of the government taking their guns away than are scared of active shooters. They don't trust the government. They think their guns will be the only thing that protects them from other guns and protects them from government.
