We all have our own scarce and valuable good: attention Corporations are plundering this daily, with no repercussions, and no alternatives Could we charge for attention capture? Or perhaps get something in return? Could we make it mandatory for medias to have paid alternatives?

Part of the solution seems to be found in changing the metrics used to evaluate success of digital products. Moving from quantitative measurement of use to something else. “We can’t measure what we care about, so we care about what we can measure” ... and optimize, etc

hm. i reckon if we tried hard enough we probably could measure what we care about & then orient our tech to help us align actions with that

(Quote from Richard tapia) I agree, there’s work to be done there. Focusing on reasons for using the product and measuring the success of fulfilling them, instead of measuring behavior seems like a place to start.
