Agree with the first two, but diverse interests are valuable because of the role they play in solving society's problems. Fitting in is the whole point! How about, *fitting in with groups your parents forced you into* is overrated.

Talk to people, especially strangers. Doesn’t matter what it is about, learning to talk face to face to different kinds of people in different settings is hugely beneficial. You learn new ideas and world views, and you learn how to better communicate your own thoughts an beliefs
