What is a god (loosely)? - source of moral authority (that's humans) - power over nature (current mass extinction - caused by us) We are kind of deities right now. This must be kept in mind because the magnitude and reach of our fuck-ups could be devastating.

I dissagree that we are either. The idea of god is that there is a higher source of morality and a bieng with mass control over every aspect of nature. We have morality, but we arguably have no basis for it and our affect on nature is completely unintentional.
